The sixth annual Pewter Run, October 3,2010 will once again take place in Hillsborough Center, NH. The Pewter Run is a unique road event dedicated to the active use and display of motorcycles manufactured between 1900 and 1950. With the backdrop of several historic New England towns, country inns, and rolling hills, the Pewter Run gathering will give a glimpse into motorcycling's early history. Entrants will ride their machines over a designated route where the emphasis is placed on reliability and fun. There will be the Special Interest class for machines of the early 1950's.
The Pewter Run on October 3, 2010, celebrates the first fifty years of motorcycling in America. It is loosely patterned after two international "vintage" motorcycle events The "Motogiro dItalia" and the English "Branbury Run". The PEWTER RUN is a timed, non-speed, reliability road event for motorcycles built prior to 1950. The event will start and finish on the historic town common in Hillsborough Center, New Hampshire. This very picturesque setting is in the heart of rural New England with its many historic villages, fine homes, old inns and winding country roads. The premiere "first of its kind " AMA sanctioned event is organized and hosted by the United States Classic Racing Association, Americas oldest vintage racing organization. The route will wind its way approximately thirty miles from Hillsborough Center to Washington, New Hampshire and eventually back to the start for a gala social gathering and cookout celebrating early motorcycling. Participants will follow a designated route at a low average speed where checkpoints will confirm their reliability and progress. Participation classes will separate the motorcycles into age categories for scoring. Pewter replicas will be awarded for completing the event in the prescribed time plus an allowable percentage.
