Travis, I'm not quite at the point of being ready to mount my magneto so take this for what it's worth, but the R&O page 49E shows 3/8-16, four of 'em.

Ok thanks Harry, that's what I thought but I'm using a Morris magneto and want to make sure that's the right setup. With the mag bolted down the drive gear sits crooked and there isn't much adjustment so I was making sure it's not 5/16.

Just removed my mag for overhaul.  I have the bolts in my hand.  3/8”-16 x 3/4” long.

Send us a picture,Travis. Crooked which way ? Is your mag platform level? Do you have two Slightly mismatched cases ? The crankcases generally match up perfectly, but occassionally will have different mag platform heights if one side has been replaced at some point. If original mounting holes, they are always in the same place, but you may need to shim one half more than the other by a few thou.

Ya Tim they are two different case halves but that's not where the problem lies,it's not straight when I look over the top of the magneto. I will post a picture when I get home so you can see what I'm talking about.

This is what I'm talking about, you can see the magneto sits crooked so the gear does too. That was why I was wondering if the original magnetos took 5/16 bolts so they could be straightened up.

There should be a felt washer between the mag and the case to keep oil from flying all over the place when the engine runs.

There is one I'm just setting things up and addressing problems before final assembly
